Welcome!Great to have you here. The dictionary defines "asylum" as a place of retreat and security. In a society generally hostile to liberty, I encourage you to think of this web site as your personal retreat, a castle you can call your home. In a little over 200 years, we’ve allowed government to lay claim to our lives and our income. We are now humble servants, instead of free men. We are honored to pay tribute to the state. We are eager to sacrifice our lives for its foreign wars. Yes, we still enjoy an appreciable amount of liberty, but in spite of, not because of, government actions. When was the last time you heard a politician say he wanted to repeal laws so we would have more liberty? It happens – Ron Paul and Carla Howell come to mind – but it’s rare. Welfare buys more votes than freedom. Government is always looking to extend its legal authority. It’s up to us to stop it and undo the damage. The Constitution was an attempt to keep government caged. It worked, mostly, until Lincoln’s election. We had a period of reprieve after the war, up until 1913 -- the darkest year in liberty’s history. Our future depends on killing every trace of the central bank and income tax that became law that year. That’s one of the purposes of Liberty Asylum. With your intellectual support, it will be a fighting force for freedom.
